Co-creating a Vision for Hybrid Work
Office of Minority Health (OMH) | Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
The Context
After two years of tremendous change and growth, OMH wanted to celebrate their progress and recharge for what’s ahead. The office had recently experienced an influx of new staff and leadership changes as well as heightened attention and support for their work from the federal administration. Leadership's overarching desired outcomes were for all managers and staff to feel connected to each other and the mission, create a shared image of the future of hybrid work, and for managers and staff to feel heard on the topics that are important to them.
Our Approach
Joyedele Consulting supported OMH leadership with the design and facilitation of their first all staff retreat since the COVID-19 Pandemic. We designed a one-day retreat that created the space for staff members to renew their connections to each other and the larger mission of their work. Staff and leadership worked together to codesign a vision and create a plan to implement a meaningful and productive hybrid work environment. Teams met in small groups to develop shared norms for working together as well as individual and team commitments to support an inclusive work environment.
The Result
As a result of this offsite retreat, OMH had a renewed energy to fulfill their mission and staff were able to create stronger personal and professional connections with each other. Additionally, managers and staff walked away with a shared understanding and vision for the future of their workplace.
