Transforming how leaders work together and creating positive change through joy rather than burnout – this mission came to life when Joyedele Consulting's founder, Judy Oyedele, joined 100 dynamic women leaders at Georgia College & State University's 6th Annual Women's Leadership Conference this March.
The conference theme "Leading Change: Flourish Forward" perfectly aligned with Joyedele's commitment to bringing joy to the change process. In her session "From Guilt to Growth: Flourishing for Community-Centered Leaders," Judy guided participants through practical frameworks for sustainable leadership and authentic self-care.
The session brought together a diverse group of community leaders, from seasoned executives to emerging student leaders, small business owners to banking professionals. This rich mix of perspectives created an energetic atmosphere of shared learning and growth as participants explored:
Understanding and identifying guilt triggers
The critical difference between faux self-care and real self-care
Practical self-assessment tools to track personal flourishing over time
Strategies for turning down the volume on guilt while turning up agency
Participant feedback highlighted the session's impact. "Learning what true self-care is and turning down the volume of guilt was the most helpful part!" shared one attendee. Another emphasized the value of "the ways you showed to perform a self-assessment of where you were, then compare over time."
This engagement at GCSU particularly resonated with Joyedele Consulting's mission of supporting women of color leaders in finding ways to flourish in their work. The institution's legacy of supporting women leaders and commitment to fostering leadership that prioritizes both impact and wellbeing reflects our own dedication to transformative, sustainable change.
