Helen Bryant

Helen Bryant is a philanthropic strategist and fundraising expert with more than fifteen years of experience designing high-impact resource mobilization strategies for racial justice, climate justice, workers rights, and democracy-strengthening movements.

As principal of H. Bryant Consulting, she partners with funder collaboratives, community-led organizations, academic institutions, and mission-driven start-ups to offer strategic planning, development systems design, and equity-rooted philanthropic best practices. Her consulting practice is grounded in intersectional and community-driven principles that prioritize the leadership, knowledge, and lived experience of

movements led by structurally marginalized communities.

Helen brings a track record in strategic planning for early-stage and rapidly evolving mission-driven organizations and philanthropic initiatives. Currently, she designs multi-year strategic fundraising frameworks and narrative architectures for the Care for All with Respect and Equity (CARE) Fund, a $50-million donor collaborative.

Since 2023, she has shaped fundraising strategy for the CARE Fund across movement-building, policy advocacy, equitable implementation, and culture change, and has raised more than $20 million in new and renewed grant funding.

Throughout her career, Helen has secured and stewarded multimillion-dollar investments from private, community, and international foundations, while guiding organizations through governance design, resource mobilization strategy, and strategic programming/revenue alignment. She has deep experience facilitating collaborative decision-making with teams composed of activists, organizers,

and philanthropic leaders, and is recognized for transforming complex stakeholder environments into coherent, forward-looking strategic plans.

Helen’s consulting approach integrates rigorous analytical frameworks with participatory, values-driven processes. She is particularly adept at supporting emerging institutions as they articulate their mission, invest in staff development, and select resource mobilization models that advance community-led visions for justice.

She also offers extensive experience training staff and teams in grantmaking fundamentals, collaborative decision-making, and philanthropic best practices.

Her work reflects a long-standing commitment to strengthening the power and sustainability of global movements working toward justice, equity, and liberation for all.

Helen earned her Bachelor’s of Art degree in Archaeology and Women’s History at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She serves on the Board of Directors for Words Beats & Life, a Hip Hop education organization with decades of service in the Washington, DC. area. She is a member of Women of Color in Fundraising (WOC) and the African American Development Officers Association (AADO). She is based in Silver Spring, Maryland.
